Moonless-Calling all Demons (Hjernespind HS23-CD)

The Copenhagen Doom rock band, Moonless has their first full length release out now. They had previously released a one sided 12” record in 2010. I have seen the band live 3 or 4 times and they have always delivered quite a good show. The CD starts off with Mark of the Dead, which enters with a slow doomy bass riff and then the killer guitar riff kicks in. Really good powerful vocals (Kenni reminds me of someone but I just can’t figure out who) and a slow guitar solo at the end. Devil’s Tool is a more uptempo track, while Horn of the Ram slows things down again. The title track starts off Side B of the vinyl record with another riff monster. Half way through they take a turn in a new direction, which is cool. The Bastard in Me and Midnight Skies, the last two tracks are really great songs, with cool riffs, powerful vocals and some cool guitar solos. This is a pretty damn cool doom rock band playing more mid-tempo, not super slow stuff. My only negative comment is that some of the songs are a bit too much a like but they have some great hooks to catch you with as well. Cool Danish band… Grab this one…
